In recent years, King city has steadily transformed from a sleepy farming community 30 kilometres northwest of Toronto, into a much sought-after locale for quiet upscale living. Its appeal comes from beautiful rolling hills set amid the Oak Ridges Moraine and the East Humber River.
That appeal was not lost on Peter McCarthy and his wife, Ellen, who have built a home in one of King City s residential enclaves. I wanted to build something of substance, says Peter, who used to live in nearby Woodbridge. King City was close enough to the city and I thought the investment in this neighbourhood would be great.
